Meet Cleo - The Frightened Little Cat Who Just Needs Someone to Believe in Her 🧡
Cleo is 1.5-year-old Arabian Mau Looking for her forever home.
Cleo hasn’t had the easiest start to life. She was dumped on the streets while pregnant, where she bravely raised her three kittens.
Despite everything she has been through, Cleo has the sweetest nature. She is gentle, calm and, once she feels safe, incredibly loving and affectionate. ❤️
But there’s something important you need to know about Cleo…
She is nervous.
When new people meet her, they don’t immediately see the Cleo that we have come to know over time. She takes time to relax in someone’s presence, and in a meeting with potential adopters, she can understandably appear frightened and unsure.
And heartbreakingly, this has happened time and time again.
We have had lots of people come to meet Cleo, only for them to decide that she isn't the cat for them because all they see is a frightened little cat.
But I know there is so much more to Cleo than that first impression as I see it for myself everyday.
Since coming into rescue, we have given her the time, patience and space she needed to get to know us. Slowly, she has shown us her true personality — and the transformation has been wonderful to see.
And this is why Cleo’s story breaks my heart.
So many nervous cats are overlooked because they don't walk straight up to a stranger, demand attention or confidently greet everyone they meet. People understandably want to see that personality straight away, but with cats like Cleo, their true selves are often hidden behind fear.
For many rescue cats, a rescue environment is completely alien. They are surrounded by unfamiliar sights, sounds, smells and people. Sometimes, it is only when they finally have a quiet, secure forever home that they can truly begin to heal, relax and let their personality shine.
That frightened little cat who was overlooked more often than not have an incredibly loving companion just waiting to come out.
Cleo deserves someone willing to see her potential rather than judge her on their first meeting. She has a calm nature and could happily live in a home with another cat or as the only pet in the home. Due to her initial nervousness, we are looking for a home with no dogs and no very young children as we feel this would be far to overwhelming for her.
We completely understand that Cleo won't be the right cat for everyone — and that's okay.
At Delilah’s Legacy Feline Rescue, we believe honesty is always the best policy. We want to make sure potential adopters understand exactly what to expect, because finding the right match is about preventing disappointment for both the adopter and, most importantly, the cat.
We aren't looking for someone who expects Cleo to be confident from day one. We're looking for someone who will look at a nervous little cat and are willing to give them time in order for them to bloom.
If you think you could be that person for Cleo, we would absolutely love to hear from you. 🐾
